Aurora, now Queen, tries to mediate peace, but Seraphina’s forces launch a series of magical attacks, plunging the Moors and neighboring kingdoms into chaos. Maleficent is torn between her loyalty to Aurora and her kinship with the fae. As Seraphina’s dark magic spreads, Maleficent discovers that Seraphina’s power comes from an ancient artifact—the Heart of the Forest—which corrupts its wielder.
In a climactic confrontation, Maleficent and Seraphina battle in the heart of the Moors. Aurora, risking her life, intervenes and shatters the artifact, breaking Seraphina’s hold over her followers. Seraphina, freed from the artifact’s influence, is remorseful and agrees to a fragile truce. The film ends with Maleficent and Aurora reaffirming their bond, and the fae and humans beginning a new era of cooperation.
